Spiced Salmon with Avocado Salsa Recipe - Healthy, Low-Carb Delight

Ingredients
For the salmon:

  • 2 salmon fillets (120-180 g each)
  • 30 ml olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic (minced)
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder (2.5 g)
  • 1/2 tsp cumin (2.5 g)
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder (2.5 g)
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper (1.25 g)
  • 1/4 tsp salt (1.25 g)

For the avocado salsa:

  • 1 ripe avocado (diced)
  • 80 g tomato (diced)
  • 2 tbsp onion (diced, about 30 g)
  • 2 tbsp cilantro (chopped, about 5 g)
  • 15 ml olive oil
  • 15 ml lime juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the salmon:

    • Mix olive oil, garlic, and spices in a bowl.
    • Rub the mixture over the salmon fillets.
  2. Cook the salmon:

    • Heat a non-stick pan or grill over medium-high heat.
    • Cook salmon for 5-6 minutes on each side until done.
  3. Make the avocado salsa:

    • Combine avocado, tomato, onion, and cilantro in a bowl.
    • Add olive oil, lime juice, salt, and pepper. Mix gently.
  4. Serve:

    • Top the cooked salmon with avocado salsa and enjoy!

Optional Baking Method:
Preheat oven to 200°C. Bake salmon on a sheet pan for 12-15 minutes or until cooked through.
